Job Description
We are looking for a skilled MS SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with 2–3 years of experience to manage, maintain, and support Microsoft SQL Server databases in production environments. The role involves database administration, performance monitoring, backup and recovery, and collaboration with internal teams to ensure high availability, security, and performance of enterprise database systems. Exposure to MongoDB and cloud platforms is an added advantage.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, administer, and support MS SQL Server (2012/2016/2017/2022 – Enterprise & Standard).
- Perform database upgrades, patching, and refresh activities.
- Manage database backup, restoration, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Implement and support Database Mirroring, Log Shipping, Replication, and DR processes.
- Monitor database performance, logs, and health; troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
- Configure and maintain backup jobs, export/import, linked servers, and replication processes.
- Provide production support and ensure database availability and reliability.
- Provision database users and roles, working closely with the Security team to manage access controls.
- Support databases hosted on cloud platforms (Azure / AWS).
- Maintain documentation, reports, and operational procedures.
- Interact with internal and external stakeholders with clear communication and customer focus.
- Work flexible hours as required to support business-critical systems.
Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 2–3 years of hands-on experience as an MSSQL DBA (primary skill).
- Strong experience in production support environments.
- Knowledge of MS SQL Analysis Services.
- Experience with log configuration and monitoring.
- Knowledge of database backups on cloud platforms (Azure / AWS).
- Understanding of Azure / AWS / GCP infrastructure.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and work in a fast-paced environment.
- SQL performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
- Experience in data conversion and database migration projects.
- Exposure to transactional replication.
- Experience supporting SQL Server in clustered environments.
- Understanding of database locking, indexing strategies, and partitioning.
- Hands-on experience with T-SQL and stored procedure development.
- Experience in improving monitoring, maintenance, and operational processes.
